Arsenal upset eyed by Wolves as defender insists ‘we can do it again’ ahead of Premier League clash

Matchday 31 has come early for Arsenal and Wolves, who will play on Wednesday night due to the Gunners’ awaited participation in the Carabao Cup final.

Arsenal desperately need to return to winning ways in the Premier League, having dropped nine points in their previous six league games.

Most recently, Arsenal drew with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, which only emphasised the need to win against Wolves, as Manchester City closed the gap at the top to just four points.

On paper, it seems like a guaranteed three points for Arsenal at Molineux, as the top of the league take on the bottom of the league, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Would it be naive or smart for Mikel Arteta to test his new midfield against Wolves?

Wolves defender David Moller Wolfe sends a warning to Arsenal ahead of Premier League meeting

Arsenal were absolutely abysmal when they last faced Wolves, beating the Old Gold at the Emirates courtesy of two own goals, one being a match-winner scored in the 94th minute.

It was a shameful performance that showed Mikel Arteta’s side at their worst, so it’s unsurprising that the Wolves squad are eager for history to repeat itself.

“It’s an important and big challenge,” Wolves defender David Moller Wolfe told the club’s official website.

“They [Arsenal] are first in the table, but we made it very difficult for them a couple of weeks ago, and I believe we can do that again.”

Wolfe has confidence that Rob Edwards’ Championship-bound side can cause an upset at Molineux, just as they so nearly did at the Emirates.

The fullback’s words should come as a warning to Arteta, as when comparing how Arsenal played against Brentford to how they did against Wolves on that day, one thing was identical.

Arsenal need to be unpredictable to beat Wolves

Unpredictable is not something that watchers of the Premier League would credit Arsenal with being.

Arsenal’s attack has been underperforming by a long way, and something has got to change if the Gunners plan to win the title.

Answer honestly, are you worried about Arsenal’s mentality in the title race?

Against Brentford last time out, Arsenal were extremely lacklustre and tedious to watch, which was the same as that snoozefest against Wolves at the Emirates.

Playing to Arteta’s demands only makes Arsenal more predictable for teams like Wolves to find a way to influence the game.

A spritz of energy and a direction away from building attacks in a horseshoe shape will make every difference, and we must see it against Wolves to avoid another upset.
