Arsenal have finally discovered their opponents for the third round of the FA Cup, with hopes of making it deep into the competition.

The Gunners have had notoriously tough match-ups in recent years, losing at the first hurdle last year to rivals Liverpool.

It doesn’t get much easier this time as Arsenal drew Manchester United in the FA Cup for this season’s third round tie.

With Mikel Arteta hopeful of adding another FA Cup to his career tally, as well as the club’s own tally, beating their rivals will have to be the first step.

Arsenal fans have all given their thoughts on the matter as well, with an interesting take on facing off with United.

What Arsenal fans think of Man United draw in FA Cup

With a tough tie at the Emirates Stadium against Man United on the cards, supporters have given their verdict on the draw.

One supporter displayed a mix of emotions on social media, stating: “For once, could we not have an easy 3rd Round FA cup draw? We’ll smash United regardless.”

Another added: “Thought we could somehow put an end to drawing top teams in early stages of cup games. Of all teams?”

Everyone’s frustration over the difficult early tie was clear, though there was still a sense of confidence in beating Man United.

Someone else added: “We will beat them but would have wanted a way worse team just ye be able to rest more players.” Another claimed: “Man Utd could have been easier but could have been harder, bring them on.”

That frustration continued when seeing that rivals had an easier looking match on paper, with one supporter claiming: “Meanwhile, all the other top teams have byes to the next round. What a surprise.” and another said: “That’s great we will humble them two times.”

Given the busy fixture list ahead, the last thing Arsenal needed was such a difficult encounter, but it’s an early chance to knock out a rival for the cup.

Arsenal’s tough FA Cup draws since 2020 final victory

Since winning the competition in 2020, Arteta hasn’t had much luck in stringing together a deep run into the contest.

Arsenal haven’t made it past the fourth round since winning the FA Cup last, with some tricky ties and blunders leaving them watching on from the sidelines.

Whether they can put that poor record behind them remains to be seen, but they will be aiming to do so against Man United in mid-January in the FA Cup third round.
