Arsenal fans will always have a soft spot for Hale End graduate Alex Iwobi, despite the Nigerian playing for a London rival.
Iwobi has impressed at Fulham since making the move to West London from Everton in 2023.
The Hale End product was at Arsenal from the age of nine before flying the nest to sign for the Toffees, where he further established himself as a Premier League player.
Though the Nigerian has returned to the Emirates five times as an opposition player, one thing that recently happened in N5 left Iwobi stunned.

Alex Iwobi reacts to the Emirates Stadium’s reception for Bukayo Saka
Iwobi came off the bench to feature in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Fulham at the start of April.
The result was not something the midfielder would want to remember; however, something that happened during the contest stuck with him.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Iwobi shared his verdict on the reception Bukayo Saka got from the Emirates as he returned from injury after over 100 days.
“What I heard at the Emirates the other day was insane,” Iwobi said during a discussion about Saka.
The Nigerian’s teammate Tom Cairney was taken aback by Saka’s reception, as the Emirates celebrated their star boy’s return as if it were a goal.
Funnily enough, only seven minutes after his introduction, Saka scored against Fulham to win the game, giving the home crowd a reason to celebrate once more.
How Iwobi described Saka
During his interview with Sky Sports, Iwobi was quizzed about other Arsenal academy graduates, where, of course, Saka came into conversation.
The 28-year-old described the England international as the ‘nicest guy’, admitting that very few would think that Saka had the status that he does at Arsenal.
“He’s so humble, nicest guy you will ever meet. You wouldn’t even think he’s the starboy, he’s just so chilled and such a nice guy.”
Being five years Saka’s senior, Iwobi never shared the pitch at the same time as the winger as Arsenal teammates, but holds high respect for the player and club icon the 23-year-old has become.
