Arsenal fans told to ‘be excited’ after Josh Kroenke conversation reveals aims of Arteta project

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has now sent a message to supporters of the North London club ahead of the new season.

Whilst Stan Kroenke is the majority shareholder of Arsenal, his son Josh has a far more hands on role with the day-to-day running of the club, working closely with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu to drive the project forward.

This trio have certainly been able to forge a successful working relationship, which has led to the club taking huge strides forward on the pitch.

In December 2019, when Arteta was appointed manager, the Spanish coach became the third and final piece of this puzzle to fall into place at the Emirates Stadium.

At that time, the Gunners were in the doldrums, the squad was below the standard required, performances were poor, and the relationship between the club and the supporters was toxic.

There has been gradual and steady improvement since then, though, and now Arsenal are very much a club with major silverware on the agenda again. In each of the last two seasons, Arteta’s side have finished as runners up in the Premier League, and they were able to take the title race down to the last day of the campaign last time around. 

In the wake of that second-place finish, Arteta promised Arsenal fans that trophies are on the way. In order to make good on that vow, though, he must strengthen his squad over the course of the current summer transfer window.

Josh Kroenke to lift lid on plan to take Arsenal to title glory

Josh Kroenke has apparently now indicated that that is what the club are working towards, with the ultimate goal of winning the title in mind. 

According to broadcaster Sophie Nicolaou, who has just recorded a soon-to-be-released interview with Kroenke: “Spent time chatting with Josh Kroenke. Fascinating conversation about what it takes to build championship winning teams. If I said “be excited” it might sound like a line, but I think we should be. Tune in tomorrow for more.”

Arsenal have been linked with a number potential transfer targets so far this summer, and the club are now on the verge of sealing a deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori. 

On top of that, the Gunners are also thought to be leading Liverpool in the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres. 

The Gunners are clearly close to the title, as last season’s performance attested to. The work done this summer could be enough to get them over the line.
