Arsenal have been the best team in the Champions League this season.

The Gunners have won each of their first six games in the competition so far, scoring 17 and conceding just one goal in those fixtures.

Mikel Arteta’s tactics are the biggest reason why Arsenal are where they are in the table now, but the players deserve a lot of credit too.

One player who has stepped up massively is Gabriel Martinelli.

Which Arsenal player scored the better goal vs Club Brugge – Noni Madueke or Gabriel Martinelli?

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli rated as the best Premier League player in the Champions League

Martinelli has been unbelievable for Arsenal in the Champions League this season.

The Brazil international wasn’t viewed as someone who would be a regular this term following the arrivals of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke in the summer.

That has often been the case in the Premier League, but in Europe, the former Ituano man has made a difference, regardless of whether he has been a starter or not.

With his goal against Club Brugge, Martinelli became the first player in Arsenal’s history to score in five consecutive Champions League games.

Those performances have not gone unnoticed, as Whoscored have given Martinelli a 7.78/10 rating, which is the highest among all Premier League players in the Champions League this season.

Only six players in Europe’s most prestigious club competition have earned a higher rating than the Arsenal number 11.

For those wondering, Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland ranks 25th, with a rating of 7.43 – 18 places below Martinelli.

Only six players have been better than Gabriel Martinelli in the Champions League so far. Would you take any of them at Arsenal?

If you could sign one of these six players for Arsenal right now, who would it be and why?

Arsenal have added a new weapon in attack, and Gabriel Martinelli used it vs Club Brugge

Arsenal have often been accused of overplaying in the final third over the years.

The Gunners almost always dominate possession, but they have been reluctant to pull the trigger on several occasions in the past.

This season, it looks like Arsenal’s players have been given the licence to shoot from distance. Both Madueke and Martinelli used that weapon perfectly against Club Brugge on Wednesday night.

The likes of Leandro Trossard and Martin Zubimendi have also scored from outside the box this season, while Riccardo Calafiori has come close on a few occasions.

Arsenal have plenty of players who can score from long range, and it’s great to finally see them using that ability as an asset.
