The Brazilian added a third for the North London club following two great goals from Noni Madueke, which included a first-half stunner.

Martinelli also netted a brilliant goal of his own to set a new record for Arsenal, which even Thierry Henry couldn’t manage.

Gabriel Martinelli creates Champions League history at Arsenal

Gabriel Martinelli has just become the first Arsenal player to ever score in five consecutive Champions League appearances.

The winger’s strike away in Belgium means he has scored against Athletic Club, Olympiakos, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and now Brugge.

The 24-year-old has recently returned from injury, but his last few displays in an Arsenal shirt have just reminded everyone of his quality.

But despite his brilliant form, Martinelli faces a real battle for a spot at the left wing, with Leandro Trossard, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke all able to play there.

Arteta now has a much-welcomed dilemma in his squad, although he will need everyone fit and available given how many games his team are set to face over Christmas.

Martin Keown wants Madueke and Saka on the wings for Arsenal, but right now, it’s hard to look past Martinelli in that role.

It’s a funny situation for Arsenal as their most widely perceived area to be upgraded next is left wing, but they still have so many good options there.

Arsenal Insider understands that Andrea Berta wants to sign another winger in 2026, but perhaps that search should be put on hold.

Antoine Semenyo, Kenan Yildiz and Rodrygo Goes are among the options which the Gunners had been considering ahead of the New Year.

But with Trossard, Eze, Madueke and Martienlli all firing, the Italian director should prioritise other areas first.
