Arsenal have ace up their sleeve as PL rivals plot ‘massive swoop’ for £50m striker

Arsenal may well feel that they still have the edge over any other suitors in the race to sign Victor Boniface for one reason.

Victor Boniface is an Arsenal fan, which gives the Gunners a “huge advantage” when it comes to the battle to secure the Nigerian striker’s services.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, reporting on his Patreon page, West Ham United are now lining up a £50 million “massive swoop” for the Bayer Leverkusen forward.

However, Mikel Arteta may well be banking on Boniface opting to spurn any chance to join the Hammers this month in the hope of securing a switch to the Emirates Stadium at some point in the future. As things stand, though, Arsenal almost certainly would not be able to match a £50 million offer this month. The north London club’s spending power is significantly restricted this month.

If West Ham are able to lure Boniface to the Premier League this month, then there is little that the Gunners would be able to do about it. However, if the 23-year-old were to remain in the Bundesliga until the summer, when Arsenal will be free to spend more heavily in the market, then he stands a chance of securing his dream move to the Emirates Stadium.

Victor Boniface would be a good fit for Arsenal

Arsenal are certainly in need of a new striker, and have been linked with a number of potential acquisitions in that part of the pitch. An upgrade is required, as Gabriel Jesus simply is not prolific enough. The Brazilian has only netted 3 times in the Premier League this season. Equally, Eddie Nketiah is not consistent enough to fire the Gunners to a title triumph.

Boniface is a more clinical presence at the top of the pitch that either Jesus or Nketiah. The 5-cap Nigeria international has been in blistering form for Bayer Leverkusen so far this season, racking up 16 goals in 23 appearances, across all competitions, for the German outfit.

Boniface would add a fresh dimension to the Gunners’ attacking contingent and would surely jump at the chance to represent the club he considers himself a supporter of.

Due to the club’s current financial position, though, and the looming threat of breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations, Arsenal are likely to have to stick with the strikeforce they already have until the end of the season. In that case, Arteta needs to find a way to get more consistent end product out of both Jesus and Nketiah.
