£150m goal machine and wonderkid: Ranking Arsenal’s 3 top striker targets

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker.

Either in the upcoming January transfer window, or in the summer to follow, Mikel Arteta will be desperate to bring an elite new striker to Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus has come under fire for not being prolific enough. Certainly, his record of 15 goals for the north London club from 44 appearances, in all competitions, since his £45 million arrival in the summer of 2022, does not place him amongst the most efficient attackers in the Premier League.

Equally, Eddie Nketiah is not of the standard required to fire the Gunners to a league title triumph. The Hale End academy graduate is a reliably hard worker and a useful squad option, but no more than that.

Leandro Trossard can spearhead the attack if required, but Arteta has been told that the Belgian is at his best on the left wing. The same would also be said of Gabriel Martinelli.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see that Arsenal are actively looking for a new striker.

We have assessed three of the names thought to be on the Gunners’ shortlist at this time to see which would be the best option for the club to go for.

Ranking three Arsenal striker transfer targets

Ivan Toney

According to The Mirror, Ivan Toney is Arsenal’s January priority. However, it has been suggested that the once-capped England man is having doubts about leaving Brentford this winter.

There must also be concerns that Toney would struggle to make an immediate impact at Arsenal. He is currently serving a ban for breaching betting rules and will not be permitted to represent any club on the pitch until January, by which time he will surely be lacking match sharpness.

At 27-years-old and untested at Champions League level, Toney earns third spot on our list.

Evan Ferguson

Arsenal are one of many top clubs to hold an interest in Evan Ferguson. This is hardly a surprise, as the Brighton wonderkid is considered a future “superstar.” As such, he also won’t come cheap. The Seagulls are said to want at least £100 million for the 19-year-old.

The teenager truly could develop into one of the best in the game, though. He is already a solid top flight striker, with 15 senior club goals already under his belt in his short career to date.

It would be a risk to invest so heavily into such a young player, as it would be a gamble on his potential coming to fruition. The payoff would be enormous, though, if Ferguson can go on to hit the heights expected of him.

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is one of the best strikers in world football. Arsenal sporting director Edu has already held talks with Napoli over the prospect of striking a deal for the Nigerian goal machine.

The Serie A outfit have put a £150 million price tag on the 24-year-old. However, he is expected to make a move in the summer.

Securing Osimhen’s services would be a landmark deal for Arsenal and would send out a real statement of intent. Obviously, he takes top spot in our list.
