Arsenal boast one of the best academies in English football.

Indeed, the Gunners have a knack of producing top players through their Hale End academy system.

Bukayo Saka is a world-class player at this point, Ethan Nwaneri looks like a star in the making while Myles Lewis-Skelly is an England international.

Frighteningly, Arsenal have another, even more, exciting young talent coming through at the moment.

Indeed, Max Dowman has huge potential, and Dowman is set for a first-team role this season.

Many have wondered how Arsenal will fit into this Arsenal team, and now, the Gunners themselves may well have dropped a serious hint about what the future holds for Dowman.

Max Dowman listed as a forward by Arsenal

Arsenal released their squad list for their pre-season tour of Singapore, and, excitingly, Dowman’s name was on this list.

However, Dowman’s name may not have been where people expected it to be.

Indeed, Dowman has made his name in the Arsenal youth ranks as an attacking midfield player, but here, he was listed as a forward.

Dowman is capable of playing in the attack, featuring often as a right winger, using his left foot to cut inside.

The teenager’s future may indeed lie in the front line rather than in the midfield.

Max Dowman stats by position

Dowman has been listed as a forward by Arsenal here, but the numbers suggest he is best utilised in the midfield.

Transfermarkt’s data clearly shows that Dowman does his best work in that number 10 spot rather than in the attack.

That said, Mikel Arteta hasn’t been afraid to change a young player’s position in recent years.

Bukayo Saka went from being a left-back to a right winger under Arteta’s tutelage, while Myles Lewis-Skelly moved from being a midfielder to being a left-back.

Dowman may now be set for a move into a more advanced position at Arsenal, and there’s plenty of reason to be excited about what this young man will be able to do this season.
