Bukayo Saka was also absent from training, as were Riccardo Calafiori, Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber, and it’s unclear whether they will make the match.
But for Mikel Arteta, he is set to have Rice available for selection, which boosts their hopes of reaching back-to-back Champions League semi-finals significantly.
Declan Rice named in Arsenal squad to face Sporting CP
Declan Rice has been named in Arsenal’s squad to face Sporting CP on Wednesday evening, according to Hand of Arsenal.
It turns out that the 27-year-old was struggling with an illness, hence why he was unable to train with the squad at London Colney on Tuesday.
There was a great deal of panic amongst the fanbase after it emerged that Rice was unable to train with the rest of the squad.
However, supporters will now be delighted to know that he is fit and ready to be selected against Sporting at the Emirates Stadium.
Unfortunately, it seems as though Saka, Calafiori, Odegaard and Timber are all set to miss the Champions League tie.
TRUE or FALSE: Bukayo Saka should start in the NUMBER 10 role more often!
Saka has been struggling with an Achilles issue for ‘a while’ and has missed the last five matches for the Gunners.
It’s clear that the 24-year-old is a huge miss for Arsenal, leaving Arteta to choose between Noni Madueke and Max Dowman on the right wing.
