Rice now looks to have suffered a new issue ahead of the Champions League quarter-final and is now doubtful for the game.

Saka has been missing for the last five matches due to an issue and could now miss the game against the Portuguese side on Wednesday.

Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice miss Arsenal training

Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have both missed Arsenal training ahead of facing Sporting CP in the Champions League, according to James Benge.

The key Arsenal duo are now both at risk of missing the game against Rui Borges’ side at the Emirates this week.

Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori are also not in training at London Colney this morning.

Rice and Saka are two huge misses; however, Mikel Arteta will also be gutted to be without his two best full-backs for the game.

Timber has been really struggling with a hamstring injury over the last few weeks, and Calafiori’s poor injury record at the North London club continues.

Odegaard was very poor against Sporting in the first leg, but being without one of his midfield options is not good news for Arteta.

Norway’s manager said Odegaard’s injury was only minor; however, the 27-year-old looks set to miss another game for Arsenal.

Missing five big players will not help to lift the mood around the club following the weekend’s shock defeat to Bournemouth.

The Gunners are looking to defend their 1-0 lead from the first leg after Kai Havertz’s stoppage-time goal at the Estádio José Alvalade.
