Arsenal have to finally find a new club for full-back Cedric Soares before the deadline day this week or they’ll live to regret it.

The transfer window is just days away from slamming shut and Mikel Arteta still has several players he wants to offload.

One of those is £75k-a-week Cedric Soares.

With one year left on his deal, there has been almost no reports of interest or an imminent move for Cedric.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

And although the Portuguese defender has been nothing but professional during his time at the club, Arsenal need to be ruthless.

They can’t have a player not making match day squads earning so much money a week, it’s unsustainable for any club.

Moreover, with the unfortunate long-term injury to Jurrien Timber, Arsenal could really use those finances elsewhere.

Kieran Tierney has left on loan, Nuno Tavares is set to do similar, Rob Holding looks like he’s leaving in some capacity – it’s time for Cedric to do the same.

Arsenal need to sell Cedric Soares before deadline day

It was reported at the start of the summer that 31-year-old Cedric wanted to stay at Arsenal this year and fight for his place.

And although that’s admirable, it’s unrealistic at this stage of Arsenal’s progress.

The squad has moved well beyond Cedric Soares filling in at either left or right back, a job he did once do well.

Cedric seems very far away from Arteta’s plans at Arsenal right now and it would be a shame if he remains at the club beyond deadline day.

Not just from the club’s point of view, but Cedric surely doesn’t want to go a whole season not playing games.

Arsenal are also said to still want a right-back this summer if they can secure the right departures beforehand.

A clear sign that Cedric has no future with the side.

And with deadline day approaching, it’s time that Arsenal found a solution for Cedric.
