Arsenal will head into the new year in second place after beating Ipswich Town at the Emirates.
On week 18, the Gunners cruised past Ipswich, winning 1-0 in front of a home crowd in what was a rather uneventful contest.
In a first half that consisted of only four shots on goal, Arsenal took the lead through Kai Havertz, who netted his seventh goal of the Premier League season.
While the German was the match-winner, Myles-Lewis Skelly shone bright again, in what was a fixture of positive takeaways for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal match three-year clean sheet record
Arsenal leapfrogged London rivals Chelsea to claim second place heading into 2025, after what was a year of mixed emotions for the Gunners.
For now, Arteta will digest the positives from the result against Ipswich, a game that saw Arsenal achieve a Premier League feat for the first time in three years.
The 1-0 victory stood for the North Londoners’ fourth consecutive Premier League clean sheet at the Emirates, which hadn’t been achieved since 2021.

The last time Arsenal conceded at home in the league was back in late October, during the dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Arteta will be delighted by the defensive solidity of his squad, who are giving opponents very few chances to score, as reflected through their latest achievement.
Arsenal’s defensive record in the Premier League
Despite being in an undesirable position, sitting six points below the summit, Arsenal can hold their heads high regarding their defensive record this term.
No team has conceded fewer goals than Arteta’s squad, who have leaked only 16 this campaign in the Premier League.
| Rank | Club | Goals conceded |
| 1. | Arsenal | 16 |
| 2. | Liverpool | 17 |
| 3. | Nottingham Forest | 19 |
As well as being defensively solid, the Gunners have led my example at home, remaining unbeaten at the Emirates after nine games played in N5.
It’s clear that having mastered the defensive side of his game, Arteta must now look to address his attack, which could be the difference between Arsenal winning and losing the title.
