Arsenal didn’t just beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League; they dominated them.

The game was pretty even in the first half. Jurrien Timber scored the opener from a corner before Gunners target Lennart Karl netted the equaliser.

However, after the break, Arsenal were on a completely different level to Bayern and scored two more goals to win 3-1.

On the way to their victory, Mikel Arteta’s side achieved something that hadn’t been done for a long, long time.

Who was Arsenal’s Man of the Match against Bayern Munich?

Arsenal created seven big chances against Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have always been one of the best teams in the world.

The Bundesliga giants have won the Champions League six times over the years, and they are one of the favourites to go all the way every season.

Bayern have been so good in all competitions that they have rarely ever allowed teams to dominate them. They were never really seen under pressure.

However, at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, Arsenal created seven big chances against the Bavarians, which is almost unheard of.

According to Sofascore, since the start of the 2017/18 season, Bayern had played 423 games in all competitions before they faced the Gunners.

In that period, no team managed to create that many big chances – Arsenal did it with ease, which is just incredible.

Arsenal achieved a rare feat vs Bayern Munich

Arsenal completely shut down Bayern Munich

Before facing Arsenal, Bayern had played 18 games in all competitions this season, won 17 and drawn one.

Kompany’s side had scored 64 goals in those fixtures, with their superstar striker, Harry Kane, finding the net 24 times.

A few years ago, those numbers would’ve worried Arsenal, but the Gunners handled Bayern comfortably for large parts this time around.

The German champions had eight shots at goal, created just 0.68 xG and had only 13 touches of the ball inside the box – those are their lowest figures all season (Opta Joe).

That just shows how good Arsenal are, and if they keep going at the same rate, they could win everything.
