Arsenal secured a dramatic victory over Luton as Declan Rice headed in a last-minute winner, but there are concerns despite the result.
Mikel Arteta’s side found themselves 2-1 up, then 3-2 down following two errors from goalkeeper David Raya, but dug in and secured what could be a crucial victory.
Arsenal were dominant in terms of possession and chances, but somehow conceded three goals, in no small part due to errors from their goalkeeper, and this now means that they lead the Premier League in an unwanted stat.
Arsenal make more errors than anyone else
It has now emerged that Arsenal, who are top of the Premier League having amassed more points than anyone else, have also made more errors leading to goals than any other team.
Journalist Duncan Alexander highlighted the stat on X during Arsenal’s victory, when they found themselves 3-2 down as a result of two direct errors.
“Arsenal lead the PL in both points won and errors leading to goals this season. A maverick combination,” he posted.
Arsenal have now made five errors leading to a goal, following Raya’s double yesterday, which has seen them overtake Brighton, Burnley, Everton, Aston Villa and Liverpool who are all on four.
Arsenal’s frustrating mistakes

Arsenal have the best defensive unit in the Premier League, and concede few shots and big chances.
It makes it even more frustrating that when Arsenal do concede a goal, it often comes from an error rather than outstanding play from the opposition.
Other high-profile mistakes made this season includes Jorginho’s cheap giveaway against Tottenham Hotspur, which saw Arsenal throw away a 2-1 lead in the North London Derby, as well as Oleksandr Zinchenko’s error which saw Wolves pull a goal back at the weekend.
This is a problem which may concern Arteta, as it represents an underlying worry that no matter what Arsenal do in games defensively, there is always a risk that they could give away an easy goal.
Yesterday’s victory over Luton was far more dramatic than it needed to be. Arsenal dominated possession and created countless chances, but the errors at the back allowed Luton a way back into the match, and going forward there is a risk that the Gunners could drop points as a result of such mistakes.
Arsenal travel to face an in-form Aston Villa side on Saturday, and they will need to be at their ruthless best to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League.
