Arsenal are going to have to a great deal of character and resilience to stay in the Premier League title race amid the injury crisis that has hit the club in forward areas.

Arsenal’s trip to Dubai could not have gone any worse with the news that Gabriel Martinelli will miss over a month with a hamstring injury followed by even more devastating news to the front line.

Kai Havertz will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring tear, leaving Mikel Arteta with just three available forward players.

Arsenal fans are furious with the Kroenkes for not strengthening the side in the January transfer window and now former manager Arsene Wenger has visited a club that played a big part in the failed signing of Ollie Watkins.

Arsene Wenger visits Jhon Duran’s Al-Nassr

Wenger has visited Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr and congratulated them on the signing of former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

Duran signed for the club in the January transfer window just hours after Arsenal made their move for fellow Villa striker Watkins, meaning that any Gunners approach was rejected.

The former Arsenal manager spoke highly of the signing of Duran, he stated: “He’s a young player and played for Aston Villa where he was adored and loved.

“It was a surprise that during the season he moved from the Premier League to the Saudi League but congratulations you have done a good job there.”

Arsenal’s season now in ruins following Havertz injury

With so much to still play for in the Premier League title race and the last-16 of the Champions League, Arteta will now have to use every ounce of his creativity to drag Arsenal through the rest of the campaign.

Arsenal will have to now be razor sharp in their defensive structure as they know that goals will be harder to come by in the absence of so many attacking threats.

Formations, personnel and the style of play are all things that the boss will need to consider moving forward as he desperately tries to find a formula that can still win games of football.

It has certainly been a season of adversity for the Gunners, this could be one hurdle too far however in their quest for success.
