Martin Keown has been impressed by many Arsenal players this season.

The Gunners have had a fantastic start to the campaign and have been described as the favourites to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

Many players have stepped up and performed brilliantly for Mikel Arteta. Arsenal legend Keown was blown away by Max Dowman’s performance against Brighton recently.

Now, the Invincible has raved about another player – Martin Zubimendi!

Martin Keown says Arsenal star Martin Zubimendi is the ‘best player in Europe’ in midfield

Zubimendi has had an incredible start to life at Arsenal.

The Spaniard was a wanted man across Europe, but Arteta convinced him to choose the Gunners over anyone else.

Zubimendi has started every single game for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League so far, and he has been fantastic.

While all eyes are on other summer signings like Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, Keown seems to be most impressed by the former Real Sociedad midfielder.

He said on talkSPORT: “The one player who I think is maybe the best player in Europe right now in terms of midfield is Zubimendi. The way that he is playing, I wouldn’t want him to get injured.

“To see the way he controls midfield, allows Declan Rice to drive up and down the pitch, it’s a nice blend in there. This kid is a really good technician. You saw the goals he scored from the edge of the box, the header…

“It’s all there, ready to come out. He has been a revelation. So I think he is the key player for us in that central midfield role.”

Martin Zubimendi has made one Arsenal player better

Arsenal have had top-quality midfielders under Arteta before, but Zubimendi is probably the best.

The 26-year-old has taken no time to adapt to the Premier League. He has impressed in all phases of the game and has shown the ability to dominate the middle of the park.

Zubimendi’s brilliance hasn’t just helped Arsenal’s fluidity; it has brought the best out of Rice as well.

The England international’s role has evolved this season, and Zubimendi’s presence has allowed him all the freedom he needs to charge forward or track back.

That has been great to see, and we are convinced that the two players will become even better as they continue to play more games together.
