Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League clubs reportedly interested in Javi Guerra.

According to 90min, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and West Ham United have all sent scouts to watch Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra in action.

This swathe of interest in Guerra is unsurprising, given the 20-year-old has started the La Liga season in such impressive form.

The youngster broke into the Valencia first team last season and since then hasn’t looked back. So far in the current campaign, Guerra has racked up three goals and one assist in nine league outings, establishing himself as a key figure in the middle of the park for Los Ches.

Arsenal have regularly invested in young talents whilst Mikel Arteta has been at the helm. The likes of Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Fabio Vieira all arrived at the Emirates Stadium on the Spanish coach’s watch. Meanwhile, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli were able to establish themselves as star players for the north London club.

Javi Guerra not an immediate priority for Arsenal

Guerra could be the next young talent that Arteta looks to tempt to Arsenal. However, he certainly won’t come cheap. As per the aforementioned 90min report, his current release clause is worth £86 million.

On top of that, Valencia sporting director Miguel Angel Corona recently insisted to the Daily Mail that Guerra is not for sale. He said, “we are fully aware that we have a player with enormous potential for the future and the ability to perform at a good level now…It is not in our plans to sell him to any club.”

Whether or not the player himself has his heart set on a move elsewhere remains to be seen.

Arsenal have been linked with several potential January transfer targets in recent weeks. Notably, The Mirror have reported that the Gunners are keen to secure the services of Ivan Toney. There has been plenty of support for this mooted move.

Guerra may well be a long-term target for Arteta. However, given Valencia’s stance and the price tag on the player, plus the more pressing need to invest in other areas of the pitch, it unlikely that Arsenal will pursue a deal for the Spain under-21 international any time soon.
