Leandro Trossard has been the subject of heavy criticism this season, with Arsenal struggling for form with him in the side.
Arsenal had to deal with the absence of captain Martin Odegaard for over two months, and Trossard was selected in midfield in an attempt to replace him.
However, the Belgian International failed to deliver, with Trossard criticised by Arsenal fans after he played huge roles in several decisive moments which led to dropped points.
Trossard’s red card against Manchester City put his side in trouble, and the 29-year-old also missed a glorious opportunity to score the winner against Chelsea in the final minute at Stamford Bridge.
Despite this, Arsenal are now ready to hand Trossard a new contract, which comes as a huge surprise.

Arsenal in talks with Leandro Trossard over new contract
It has now been reported by the Daily Mail that Arsenal are in talks with Trossard over a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in June 2026.
If a deal can be reached, it is expected that the 29-year-old will receive a “significant” payrise on his current deal, which sees Trossard earn a weekly wage of £90k.
Trossard was earmarked as a player who could leave this summer, but it now appears that he is going nowhere for the foreseeable future, and his new deal could spell bad news for one of his teammates.
Leandro Trossard’s new contract could mean Gabriel Jesus leaves Arsenal
Gabriel Jesus is another Arsenal player struggling for form, and his future at the club is far from certain.
The attacker is one of Arsenal’s highest earners, and Jesus has been linked with a return to Palmeiras in his native Brazil.
Arsenal have been linked with several strikers including Viktor Gyokeres, with it clear that Mikel Arteta wants to upgrade his attacking options, but if Trossard is set to stay, it indicates that Jesus could be set to leave instead, with the Belgian kept as an experienced option within the squad.
