Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side have now been told their exact chance of winning the Premier League this season after their seismic Liverpool win.

Arteta and his team knew that Sunday’s fixture was a must win, the very definition of a ‘six-pointer’.

And with that in mind, it proved to be a very clever decision for Arteta to have his team train at the Emirates stadium in the final session.

The Spaniard was clearly very keen to see his side avoid any stage-fright against Jurgen Klopp’s side, especially given their finishing troubles on the last occasion.

But Arsenal’s fast start, helped by the excellent positional play of Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz, presented the chances to win.

And although fortune swung in both directions during the match, Arsenal definitely deserved their victory.

Moreover, with Arsenal now two points behind Liverpool and level on points with Manchester City – albeit with a game in hand, their title chances have now been assessed.

Sky Sports displayed Opta’s calculations whilst live on air today, something that was then shared on X.

Opta still don’t consider Arsenal to be serious contenders for the Premier League title

Despite Sunday’s result and momentum swing, some Arsenal fans may be surprised to learn Liverpool were still considered well ahead.

Understandably Manchester City’s percentage trumped all others up at 66.2%.

Liverpool were considered second favourites at 26.1%, and Arsenal were down at 7.4%.

And given some will say it’s still a five-horse race, Aston Villa and Tottenham were handed a 0.2% and 0.1% respectively – something that may cheer Arsenal fans up.

Of course, those same fans may take little notice of those statistics, which could be worth revisiting in a month’s time.

There’s no doubt that Arsenal seem to have turned a corner since their winter break in Dubai – the whole squad looks reinvigorated.

And perhaps Arsenal fans’ only worry regarding their challenge for the Premier League title will be injuries.

Arteta simply can’t afford to lose any of his key players given the lack of January signings.

Arsenal would still suffer heavily if the likes of William Saliba were injured for example, as was the unfortunate case last campaign.

And that perhaps explains why Arsenal should now already be making strides to sign a 20-year-old with huge potential this summer
