Arsenal could have to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
David Raya is the number one at the club, and that will not change. His deputy, however, could be someone new on the opening day of next season.
Kepa Arrizabalaga could leave Arsenal this summer, and the Gunners could even make a profit on the £5 million they paid for him last year.
If that happens, they will need a replacement, and a keeper who Jamie Carragher simply does not rate has been linked.
Imagine you are Andrea Berta. Who is your top target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window?
Jamie Carragher says Arsenal-linked Illan Meslier is like a ‘kid in goal’
Illan Meslier had a very good debut season in the Premier League at Leeds United.
The Frenchman was viewed by many as one of the most talented goalkeepers in Europe and a future number one goalkeeper in Didier Deschamps’ side.
However, the former Lorient man started making way too many mistakes in the years that followed and ended up losing his place in the team.
During that period, Carragher had a go at the goalkeeper’s presence and claimed that he looks like a child in between the sticks.
He said, as per Leeds United News: “I’ve never been convinced with the goalkeeper. I know he’s a young player, Bielsa brought him up from the Championship, and he was young then, maybe 20.
“He was good on the ball using his feet, but he’s got no presence. It looks like you’ve got a kid in goal.
“I’ve always felt that. Okay, he’s a young goalkeeper making his way, but I’ve never felt convinced with him at all.”

Illan Meslier to Arsenal is a mistake
Arsenal need to learn from the mistakes they have made with their second-choice goalkeepers over the years.
The likes of Runar Alex Runarsson, Mathew Ryan and Matt Turner have all been underwhelming additions who stood no chance of ever being the number one.
Even Kepa Arrizabalaga was the same last summer.
Meslier is available on a free transfer, which is tempting, but is he going to compete and push Raya on any level? The answer is no.
That is why Arsenal should look elsewhere.
