Arsenal are shopping at a very different level these days.

Andrea Berta is no longer looking for cheap depth pieces or stop-gap options to fill gaps in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Gunners are Premier League champions now, and after falling just short in the Champions League final, only elite-level additions should be on the agenda.

That is why Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Rogers is so interesting, especially after new data showed just how valuable the Aston Villa star has become.

If you were Andrea Berta, what is the maximum fee you would pay to sign Morgan Rogers for Arsenal?

Morgan Rogers is now ranked as the fifth most valuable player in world football

Arsenal have been linked with Morgan Rogers for a while now, but any deal always felt like it would be expensive.

That has now been backed up by the latest data from CIES Football Observatory.

Their list of the most valuable players in world football has placed Rogers fifth overall with an estimated value of €136.8 million.

That is an absolutely staggering figure.

Only Lamine Yamal, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise are ranked above him. That means Rogers is currently valued higher than almost every superstar in world football.

The biggest shock from an Arsenal perspective is that he is also ahead of Bukayo Saka.

Saka’s value has been listed at €111.2 million, which is already a huge amount, but Rogers is still valued at more than €25 million above him.

That tells you exactly how difficult and expensive this transfer would be for Arsenal.

Aston Villa are under no pressure to let Rogers leave cheaply, and data like this only strengthens their position if clubs start making serious moves.

Arsenal may have to break records to sign Morgan Rogers

If Arsenal genuinely want Rogers this summer, they will need to be prepared for a massive financial commitment.

Villa will know they have one of the most valuable young players in world football, and they will price him accordingly.

That could make this one of the most expensive deals in Arsenal’s history.

The question for Berta is whether Rogers is worth that sort of money when Arsenal also need to strengthen other areas of the squad.

There is no doubt he would raise the level, but spending over £100 million on one attacker would be a huge call.

Still, this is the level Arsenal are operating at now, and if they want to stay at the very top, these are the kind of players they have to compete for.
