Arsenal have now been told they could sign a Premier League goal-scorer for a cut price before deadline day next week.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been bereft of an out-and-out goalscorer this season, with Bukayo Saka the club’s highest scorer in the league with just six goals.

And when you consider that both Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland have 14 goals for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, you can see the task Arsenal are up against.
Yes, Arteta’s side can win the league without a prolific goalscorer, but it would certainly help.
It does seem as if Arsenal would love to recruit Ivan Toney this month – but a move looks impossible right now for a number of reasons.
And with Arsenal possibly alert to a short-term fix right now, the club have been offered a chance to sign Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson.
According to The Standard, Wilson has been offered to interested clubs for just £18m in the final week of the window.
Newcastle need to raise cash and this could present an interesting opportunity for The Gunners.
Having scored seven goals in 14 games this campaign, whilst dealing with injuries, Wilson would clearly be a strong addition, even if he doesn’t align with the long-term vision.
Arsenal could sign Callum Wilson next week after claim he wanted to fight Gabriel
As would be the case when signing a few players from Premier League rivals, Wilson does have a history with Arsenal.
The striker has been embroiled in some brilliant battles with Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes over the past few seasons.

And when speaking on the ‘Footballer’s Football Podcast’ back in December, Wilson did actually admit he wanted to fight Gabriel during their on-the-field duels.
So if Arsenal are considering a deal within the next week, it might be something to bare in mind.
Speaking on the podcast, Wilson previously said: “I think for me, mine is Gabriel from Arsenal.
“He’s a good player, and off the field he’s probably a nice guy and we’d get along, but on the pitch it’s just like war.
“He wants to fight me, I want to fight him, we had a game against Arsenal recently and he was kicking me, I was clotheslining him, nudging him, elbowing him, standing on his foot, grabbing him for no reason.
“It started from the last game before this season, we had a bit on the pitch, and in the tunnel during the game this season, he was laughing with the Brazilians, and I was angry looking at him, and he looked at me and thinks ‘oh no, not you again.’
In truth, Wilson’s tough mentality would probably be seen as positive if any deal was chased next week.
But perhaps with all considered, Arsenal may be better off saving their funds for a crucial summer deal.
