Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has celebrated a landmark moment with Arsenal, and was presented with a gift by the club.
Edu Gaspar holds an incredibly important position at Arsenal, and will currently be working closely with Mikel Arteta to ensure that the Gunners enjoy a successful transfer window and are able to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Arsenal are currently considering a number of potential targets and will also be looking to offload players. Edu will have a part to play in all deals and negotiations. It seems that Arsenal are now closing in on signing Riccardo Calafiori, which he will be actively involved in.
The Brazilian has largely done impressive work in the transfer window for the North London club, as the Gunners now boast a young, talented squad who have proven themselves capable of competing for major honours.
Edu has also been applauded for revolutionising the way that Arsenal manage player contracts. However, it is fair to say that the club have an underwhelming record when it comes to selling players for top fees. The 46-year-old must improve in that regard this summer and generate as much revenue as possible in the market.
In general, though, Edu and Arteta’s partnership has proven to be successful, and the sorting director’s contribution has now been recognised by the club.

Arsenal give gift to Edu Gaspar
The former midfielder has now been in his post at the Emirates Stadium for five years. In recognition of this, the club have presented him with a gift set, including a bespoke notepad, pen, and flask, celebrating his anniversary.
Edu took to Instagram to share an image of the present, along with his own statement of thanks: “Ouw! Time goes fast! 5 years of service! What pleasure! Thank you for the gift!”
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Edu, along with Arteta, continues to serve and execute his duties effectively for many more years to come yet.
Edu’s legacy at Arsenal
Of course, Edu’s connection with club goes back further than his five-year stint as sporting director. In his playing days, he spent five seasons playing in the middle of the park for the Gunners.
He arrived in North London in January 2001, signing from Corinthians, and made 127 appearances for the club before moving on to Valencia in the summer of 2005. In his time on the books at Arsenal, the 15-cap former Brazil international won two FA Cups and two Premier League titles.
Of course, Edu was part of the famous Arsenal Invincibles squad, who won the title in 2004 without losing a single Premier League match.
