Shay Given has Arsenal defender Ben White to come clean about his situation with England after Gareth Southgate’s comments last week.
The Three Lions manager revealed during England’s latest squad announcement press conference that White had declared himself unavailable for international duty heading into Euro 2024.
With White leaving England duty during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, this latest episode has again brought up concerns from rival fans and pundits that the Arsenal defender isn’t interested in playing for his country.
Shay Given urges Ben White to explain England situation

Yet speaking on the Monday Night Club, former Premier League star Given urged that White should come clean about what is happening, with the Arsenal defender clearly keen to again play for England.
Given said: “There are interviews out there when he first got called up for England saying it was the proudest moment of his life and that his family were so proud and he couldn’t wait to pull on that jersey.
“So for him to step away this week, there’s clearly a problem and clearly an issue that either he should come out and say it or Gareth Southgate should say it, because there’s characters like us speculating what’s happened.
“He’s clearly a proud man who wants to play for his country, but there must be some kind of issue. There’s clearly something that’s happened because there’s no way you step away from that.”
Arsenal fans would love to see Ben White enjoy international success

Whilst White missing this international break is needed given how much football the defender has played this season, there’s no doubt that most Arsenal fans would love to see the 26-year-old play for England.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League this season, and White more than deserves a chance to impress on the international stage with England.
And the sooner this mess with Southgate is solved, the quicker White can start showing the world how good his talents really are, alongside fellow Arsenal teammates Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.
