Leandro Trossard has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season.

The Belgian has always been a fine player, but many fans wanted him sold in the summer when rumours about Rodrygo and Rafael Leao emerged.

However, Mikel Arteta blocked an exit for Trossard, and that has proved to be the right decision as he has been incredible so far.

The former Brighton man isn’t just a great player; he is a big-game player as well, and his stats prove it.

Prove me wrong: Leandro Trossard is quickly proving himself to be Arsenal’s best January transfer.

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard outshines Ryan Giggs and Eden Hazard in big games

Arsenal signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2023.

The Belgium international wasn’t originally the player Arteta wanted to sign. The Gunners boss preferred Mykhaylo Mudryk instead, but Chelsea hijacked the move for the Ukrainian.

That proved to be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal as Trossard has been head and shoulders above Mudryk and is now one of the Gunners’ most important players.

What makes the former Genk man such a good player isn’t just his ability to score goals and provide assists; it is that he can do it against the big sides consistently.

Across his time at Arsenal and Brighton, Trossard has scored 19 goals against the traditional big six. That is a better return than Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs and Chelsea hero Eden Hazard, who managed 18 and 17 respectively. (Daily Mail)

That is an incredible achievement considering that the two iconic names above played in the Premier League for a lot longer than Trossard has.

Giggs played 632 games in the English top-flight, while Hazard made 245 appearances.

Trossard has currently played 224 games in the Premier League, and his output against the big sides is incredible.

Arsenal will soon have a big Leandro Trossard dilemma

Trossard signed a new contract at Arsenal in 2025, but the length of his deal did not increase. He only received a raise.

That means the versatile attacker has entered the final 18 months of his contract, and the Gunners will have to make a decision on his future at the end of this season.

The summer will be the last real chance for Arsenal to make some money off Trossard after what has been his best season in the famous red and white.

However, if they decide to keep him and not extend the length of his deal, he will have the chance to leave for nothing in 2027.

Andrea Berta has a tough decision to make now, and it will be interesting to see what he will do.
