Arsenal star now warned his time under Arteta is destined to end on ‘sour note’

Journalist Kaya Kaynak believes that one player’s Arsenal career is set to come to a disappointing end this summer.

Aaron Ramsdale does not have a long-term future with Arsenal.

Arsenal are already aware that Ramsdale is all but certain to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper lost his starting berth at the Emirates Stadium early on this season, following the arrival of David Raya on loan from Brentford. The Spaniard has now established himself as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice pick between the sticks for the north London club, and he was the penalty shootout hero as the Gunners secured passage to the quarter-finals of the Champions League by overcoming Porto on Tuesday night. 

Ramsdale was quick to celebrate with Raya after his moment of gory, but ultimately, whilst they seem to get on well enough, there isn’t room for both of them at the club.

Arsenal are set to sign Raya on a permanent basis this summer, and Ramsdale needs to be playing regular football at this stage in his career. Especially if he wants to keep his place in Gareth Southgate’s England plans. 

The former Sheffield United man has been called up to the Three Lions squad for the current international break, but he will soon fall down the England pecking order if he remains a back-up option at club level.

Aaron Ramsdale set for disappointing end to Arsenal career

Ramsdale is certainly capable of impressing as a starter in the Premier League. He has made 78 top flight appearances for Arsenal since first joining the club in the summer of 2021. He is a fan-favourite at the Emirates Stadium and has produced some magic moments for the Gunners.

Losing his Arsenal place was painful for Ramsdale. He may also feel somewhat betrayed by Arteta, as early on this season, the Spanish coach stated that he planned to rotate regularly between Raya and Ramsdale. That plan never came to fruition though.

All in all, with the curtain about to come down on his Arsenal career, Ramsdale will not have wanted or expected it to end this way. To make matters worse, in his most recent outing for the club, he was guilty of a howler that resulted in the Gunners conceding a goal. Fortunately, Ramsdale was able to redeem himself in the eyes of Arsenal fans with a couple of vital saves in the second half of that match. 

Journalist Kaya Kaynak has now given his verdict on where Ramsdale currently stands. Speaking on The Arsenal Beat podcast, the reporter said, “unfortunately for Ramsdale, he’s probably never going to play another game for Arsenal. It will be a shame if that’s the, sort of, sour note that his Arsenal career ends on. He has had a good three years with Arsenal, and I think most people with remember the good times over the bad.”
