While Arsenal ran out big winners against Sporting CP in midweek Champions League action, a fresh injury issue did put a blight on the evening.
Plenty of the talk heading into the match surrounded the impressive form of the Portuguese side, but they were stunned early on by Gabriel Martinelli’s back-post finish, capitalising on a cross from Jurrien Timber.
Goals from Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhaes before the break gave a commanding lead, though Goncalo Inacio pulled one back for Sporting.
Arsenal didn’t give the home side any encouragement after though, as Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard netted a fourth and fifth to round off an impressive victory in the Champions League.
The only downside for Mikel Arteta from the match is a fresh injury update to defender Gabriel, who couldn’t finish the game.

Mikel Arteta revealed fresh Gabriel Magalhaes injury update
Late in the second half, Gabriel appeared to suffer from a slight injury issue, going to the ground and prompting a change in strategy from the Arsenal boss.
While Raheem Sterling was ready to come on as the final change in the game, that had to be put on hold, with Jakub Kiwior coming on to close out the win.
It’s a fresh problem, one that Arteta revealed he didn’t know the full answer to, telling the media after the game: “We don’t know [the issue for Gabriel]. We had to make the change because he was feeling some discomfort.
“I was about to make the change for Raz [Raheem Sterling], poor thing, I couldn’t make the sub. We had to get him out.”
While after the game the Brazilian centre-back was spotted celebrating Arsenal’s win over Sporting, there are still concerns.
With that in mind, Arsenal are now making some preparations to figure out the problem and if it’s serious.

Gabriel Magalhaes set for injury assessment at Arsenal training ground
With Gabriel now a slight injury doubt, Arsenal are now set to make routine checks on the defender to make sure he is ok.
According to journalist Charles Watts in his latest YouTube video, the defender is preparing for an assessment at London Colney on Wednesday [November 27] to discover what the issue is.
The Gunners will be hopeful that the issue isn’t too big, given the colossal performances of the defender this season.
Tough clashes with West Ham, Manchester United, Fulham, AS Monaco and Everton await for the side, who will be eager to get into a rich vein of form.

Whether they could do that without one of their key players remains to be seen, but everyone is keeping everything crossed in hopes that Gabriel is fine.
