The youngster has impressed in a breakout campaign for the Gunners, with plenty of experience picked up in the Premier League and Champions League.

While he only signed a new contract last summer, the new deal is set to reflect his growing status within the squad.

Sverre Nypan to Arsenal transfer latest
Arsenal have been linked with a potential transfer for Norwegian wonderkid Sverre Nypan over the January window.
The young midfielder has flown to England ahead of a potential move, though he has also been linked with Manchester City and Manchester United.

Amid those links, Nypan visited the former of the two Manchester sides for their victory over Chelsea.
According to VG, the youngster was invited by Erling Haaland, but appears far closer to joining Arsenal over Man City.

Ex-PGMOL chief slams referee decision
Arsenal were in the midst of controversy over the weekend as they managed to overcome Wolves in the Premier League.
Plenty of talk surrounded Myles Lewis-Skelly and a red card he was given by Michael Oliver, despite protests.

It was a decision that came under scrutiny, including from former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett as he said on social media: “It’s Arsenal and once again they are at the end of a very poor refereeing decision.
“Michael Oliver – that is not a red card and if I was you I would tell Webb that you do not want to work with your VAR Darren England.
“Between you it was a disaster to send off that Arsenal player.”
