Arsenal told ‘devastating’ striker is even better than Benjamin Sesko, Andrea Berta can sign him for free

Arsenal are on the market looking for a new striker this summer.

Andrea Berta was brought in as the new sporting director, and his biggest task is to sign a prolific centre-forward who will help push the Gunners over the line.

Benjamin Sesko appears to be Arsenal’s top striker target at the moment, just like he was 12 months ago before he decided to stay at RB Leipzig.

There’s no guarantee that a deal can be struck this time around either, so Berta would be wise to have other options on his list.

Viktor Gyokeres is one of them, but there is another striker Arsenal should consider.

Jonathan David ranked higher than Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko

Jonathan David has been linked with a move to Arsenal on many occasions in the past.

The Canada international was on the Gunners’ radar when he was at Genk in Belgium, and the North Londoners have kept an eye on him throughout his time at Lille as well.

David, who has been hailed for his ‘devastating’ speed by Breaking the Lines, has announced that he will be leaving Les Dogues at the end of his contract in July.

He will be available on a free transfer, and we think Arsenal should consider him.

ESPN, in their list of top 20 strikers in the world right now, have ranked David in 18th – two places above Gunners target Sesko.

The Lille star scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists last season, which is a better return than Sesko’s 21 goals and six assists.

Sesko is definitely the more exciting name because of his profile, but on a free transfer, David would be an absolute bargain – even if his wages will be high.

Viktor Gyokeres and other Arsenal striker targets’ rankings revealed

Benjamin Sesko was ranked 20th and Jonathan David 18th, and we think both players would be fine options for Arsenal this summer.

But, other strikers linked with a move to the Emirates have been ranked higher by ESPN.

Arsenal-linked strikerRank
Marcus Thuram14
Victor Osimhen12
Mateo Retegui11
Viktor Gyokeres8
Julian Alvarez7
Alexander Isak6

Alexander Isak would definitely be the dream target, and he has been ranked above everyone who has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

Gyokeres ranks two places below, and he is arguably the one who would be easier to sign than anyone else on the list.
