Arsenal warned £30m star is unhappy and will now be ‘considering’ his future

Aaron Ramsdale may well be planning for life after Arsenal already. 

Journalist Paul Brown, speaking to GiveMeSport, has warned Arsenal that outcast goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale “won’t be terribly happy” if he doesn’t start getting more game time soon, and will likely be “considering” his future at the Emirates Stadium.

Ramsdale recently lost his regular starting spot for Arsenal in favour of Brentford loanee David Raya.

However, the Spanish shot-stopper has not been entirely convincing between the sticks since becoming Mikel Arteta’s first choice. Raya made key errors against Lens and Chelsea, whilst he looked shaky on the ball against Manchester City and Sevilla last time out. The 28-year-old has come in for plenty of criticism in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale has made his feelings about his demotion clear. It also can’t be ignored that his hopes of seriously competing for a starting spot with England at EURO 2024 are damaged with every week he spends warming the Arsenal bench.

Whilst he will still want Arsenal to continue winning games, Ramsdale will be hoping that Raya’s form falters to the extent that he is handed a genuine opportunity to win his place at the top of the pecking order back.

The £30 million former Sheffield United ace has good reason to feel hard done by. He is a fan-favourite amongst the Emirates Stadium faithful and has been largely impressive in his time at the north London club.

Bringing in Raya was always a risky move, as neither he nor Ramsdale would be satisfied being a back up option. Arteta gambled on being able to make the situation work, and seemingly on Raya being capable of establishing himself as being unquestionably the superior ‘keeper. As things stand, though, the Spanish coach is in real danger of seeing his plan blow up in his face.
