Arsenal are just seven games into their Premier League campaign, but it’s one that has been filled with drama already.
Mikel Arteta’s team have been rather unfortunate when it comes to injury issues while refereeing decisions haven’t quite been in their favour.
Two separate red card incidents from Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard – both for delaying the restart – which wasn’t viewed fondly by the Arsenal faithful.
Despite that, the Gunners have pushed on anyway and recorded huge results against the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham already.
With such bruising encounters out of the way, but with plenty more to come, there are fears creeping across the Premier League regarding players and yellow card suspensions.

Premier League yellow card suspension rules
Current Premier League rules state that players will face a one-match suspension if they hit five yellow cards in the first half of the season.
Those bans increase with every five, such as ten cautions resulting in a two-match ban and so on, leading to players walking on disciplinary tightropes.
The threshold increases from five to ten after 19 matches in the Premier League, meaning anyone who picks up a fifth booking on matchday 20 and beyond is free from suspension.
Arsenal’s yellow card rankings this season
So far, Arsenal have one of the best disciplines in the league when it comes to yellow cards – despite their problems with recent red card incidents.
The most cards a player in the squad is on sits at two, giving them three yellow cards as room over the next few weeks if they do take a booking.
The current Arsenal yellow card rankings are:
- Gabriel Jesus – 2
- Thomas Partey – 2
- Declan Rice – 2
- William Saliba – 2
- Jurrien Timber – 2
- Riccardo Calafiori – 1
- Gabriel Magalhaes – 1
- Jorginho – 1
- Myles Lewis-Skelly – 1
- David Raya -1
- Bukayo Saka – 1
- Martin Odegaard – 1

Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard red card incidents explained
There may be some confusion surrounding Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard in the standings, seeing as they received two yellow cards in one match, resulting in a red card.
While a singular yellow card is added to the record, if a player is sent off for a second bookable offence, then their bookings are removed.
Each player served a one-match suspension for their red cards, which means they are on two fewer bookings than many would expect.
If the double yellows were added to their record, then Rice would be on four bookings – one away from a suspension – and Trossard would be on two.
Instead, the pair are far away from any suspension troubles at the moment, coming as a relative relief to Arsenal.
