Ian Wright has pleaded with fans to stop getting ‘frustrated’ with struggling Arsenal star

Heading into the international break, Arsenal are in an excellent position – Mikel Arteta has crafted a platform for real success this season.

After 10 games played, Arsenal are unbeaten and have won seven of those matches, which have included some of the toughest away trips of the season.

Kai Havertz has been integral to Arsenal’s success, Arteta’s new go-to man up top.

Alan Shearer praised Havertz’s all round game after his Southampton display – a forward who is finishing well and also helping his teammates play better around him.

Of course, Havertz’s success has somewhat come at the expense of Gabriel Jesus who has been stuck on the sidelines after returning from injury.

Given his respect for the Brazilian, Arteta is still giving Jesus chances to start or appear as a sub when he can, but the striker looks out of rhythm and sync with his teammates, he’s struggling.

Ian Wright wants Arsenal fans to remember how ‘clutch’ Gabriel Jesus has been

That being said, Arsenal fans have called for Jesus to be replaced, jovially suggesting that Danny Welbeck could be the man after his heroics against Tottenham last weekend.

However, when speaking on his podcast, Ian Wright has now called for supporters at the Emirates Stadium to stick by Jesus, who is evidently trying so hard to turn his form around.

Speaking at length on the matter, Wright said: “You know, before we move on to anyone else, can I just say about Gabriel Jesus? I just feel the need to support him right now, I really, really do.

“I know there’s a feeling that we may have outgrown him, but remember when Gabby came, he was a leveller, he levelled us up, he did.

“For whatever’s happening now, Arsenal got to a certain level and he’s levelled us up, I think we would definitely need him at some stage, but I think it’s important in this moment for the Arsenal fans to support him – they have to get behind him.

“Don’t be frustrated with the way he’s playing. You can imagine, he is trying so hard himself at the moment and we’re gonna need him.

“We need to make sure that we give him the confidence that we know what he’s capable of doing.

“This man has won it four times, he’s been clutch in many situations. And I think that listening to the murmurings and the way the fans are, please man, back this guy, you know what I mean?

“Stay with him. It’s so easy, especially when I saw his face when he was taken off the other day – you could feel it in him.

“He wants to do so well and it’s just not happening at the moment, he just needs support, he really really does.”

Benjamin Sesko already lined up to replace Gabriel Jesus

Wright is spot on, Jesus deserves Arsenal fans to stick by him through thick and thin for one more season at least.

And in truth, it does increasingly feel as if it will be the Brazilian’s final campaign at the club.

Arsenal were willing to sell Jesus for the right price this summer according to reports, an offer that seemingly never arrived.

And with that in mind, Arsenal are still extremely keen on Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig, a player who looks perfectly suited to become Havertz’s new back up.

A powerful and direct striker who would really be able to make an impact off of the bench, something Jesus is struggling to do right now.
