Arsenal will not have a better chance to make it to the Champions League semi final for the first time since 2009.
Mikel Arteta’s side produced a display that showed they belonged on Europe’s top table as they brushed aside the holders Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium.
Lucas Vazquez praised Arsenal’s pressing as the Spanish giants were suffocated by the Gunners in the second half with David Raya having very little to deal with.
Jurrien Timber gave Vinicius Jr a torrid evening as the Brazilian winger failed to dribble past the defender once and Arsenal are now firmly in the driving seat to progress into the Champions League semi final.

Opta Supercomputer reveals Arsenal Champions League chances
As per the Mail Online, Opta’s supercomputer has revealed that Arsenal have a 96 per cent chance of reaching the semi final for the first time since 2009 following their 3-0 first leg victory.
The supercomputer now rates the Gunners as having a 54.2 per cent likelihood of reaching the final in Munich regardless of who they face in the winner of the PSG v Aston Villa tie.
However, what will interest Arsenal fans the most is that Arteta’s side are now favourites to win their first ever Champions League crown according to Opta with a 28.4 per cent ahead of Barcelona.
Real Madrid need to create history in order to turn around the deficit and if the Gunners can hold out and progress, confidence would be sky high amongst the Arsenal squad to go on and achieve greatness.
Arsenal’s last Champions League semi final heartbreak
The Gunners will be wanting to eradicate memories of the last time they managed to reach the semi finals of Europe’s most elite competition.
Manchester United won the first leg of the tie at Old Trafford 1-0 back in 2009 thanks to a goal from defender John O’Shea.

With the tie on a knife edge heading into the second leg in North London, Cristiano Ronaldo broke Arsenal hearts with an incredible free kick past Manuel Almunia to add to an early strike from Ji-Sung Park.
The game eventually ended 3-1 to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side an added more European misery to Arsene Wenger, now Arteta’s current side have the chance to right the wrongs of their Champions League past.
