Kai Havertz is now thriving as a central striker for Arsenal, but questions remain over the team’s attack as a whole.
Arsenal have struggled in front of goal in the past two games, failing to score against Bournemouth and needing an own goal to beat Shakhtar Donetsk in the absence of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
Top scorer Kai Havertz missed his chance to make Arsenal history by scoring in eight consecutive home games, with fans annoyed at Leandro Trossard for missing a penalty which could have been handed to the German.
Havertz has nevertheless silenced his doubters since he moved from midfield to a forward role, and some aspects of his play have seriously impressed Arsene Wenger.
However, the legendary Arsenal manager has questioned Havertz in one area, and compared him to Tottenham Hotspur legend Harry Kane, after he scored in the Champions League in Bayern Munich’s defeat to Barcelona.

Speaking on BEIN Sports, Wenger was asked whether he would pick Havertz or Kane in his ideal team, but whilst he did not single out one of them, he praised Havertz’s technical qualities..
“Well that depends on the way you want to defend, and the way you want to play,” Wenger stated.
“Havertz is more of a contributor to the all-round game, defensively he works very hard.”
Wenger then pointed out that Kane’s goal record is, and will likely always be superior to Havertz’s because of their different styles.
“Offensively he scores less goals than Kane, and will never score the number of goals that Kane scores, so he is more a number nine and a half, and Kane is a centre forward, so you have to organise a team around Kane.”

Wenger was then asked about Kane’s lack of major trophies despite his goals, and he fired a hilarious shot at Spurs, with whom he shared a great rivalry.
“That means Harry Kane played in the team for a long time but didn’t win, but they [Tottenham] have not won since he has left!” Wenger replied.
Havertz has been excellent in front of goal this season, but Kane’s time in England saw him score 280 goals in 485 games for Spurs.
The German may never match this record, but his all-action displays could help his team continue to win more silverware than Kane ever managed.
