Arsene Wenger has been speaking about some of the players he signed during his time at Arsenal.

The Frenchman was at the helm in North London for 22 years. He is one of the greatest managers of all time and is the biggest reason why Arsenal are such a massive club today.

During his tenure at Highbury and the Emirates, Wenger signed a total of 125 players, and many of them went on to have great careers at the top level.

A good number of them are considered Arsenal legends now. But, Wenger believes two of them aren’t spoken about enough today.

Arsene Wenger says ‘people never speak about’ Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie

When you think about the signings Wenger made, your mind goes straight to the biggest names.

The likes of Thierry Henry, Marc Overmars, Robert Pires and Sol Campbell are the obvious names that spring to mind, and rightly so.

Wenger has even claimed that Patrick Vieira is his best signing at Arsenal, which is a bit of a surprise but still understandable.

However, while speaking about his former players, Wenger claimed that nobody really talks about Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie anymore.

He said in a video on Mo Farah’s YouTube channel: “People never speak about (players) like Van Persie, Fabregas. Exceptional players!

“Do you know that players like Van Persie scored 96 goals (in the Premier League) for Arsenal? Not far from Ian Wright, who scored 105.

“Of course, Thierry is 175, I think.”

Why Arsenal fans don’t speak about Van Persie and Fabregas

Van Persie and Fabregas were both truly incredible in their prime for Arsenal.

The two players were even the captains of the club and were absolutely adored by the fans for as long as they were there.

However, Van Persie destroyed his legacy by leaving Arsenal for Manchester United, while Fabregas hurt his when he returned from Barcelona and joined Chelsea.

Fabregas still gets some love from Gooners from time to time, but Van Persie has made needless comments about Arsenal on several occasions since he left.

So, he will forever be a villain.
