Ashley Cole claims he played alongside someone at Arsenal who was better than anyone at Chelsea

Ashley Cole has played with some truly fantastic players during his career for both Arsenal and Chelsea.

The former England star has been lucky enough to call the likes of Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira teammates throughout his illustrious career.

Cole himself is considered an all-time great too, and when reminiscing on his career, he’s been asked to name his greatest ever teammate.

Interestingly, Cole opted for a former Arsenal star when giving his answer, naming Thierry Henry as the best player he ever played alongside.

Ashley Cole was a pivotal part of Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles side, and while he may have left Arsenal under a dark cloud, he clearly still has some fond memories of his time in north London.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Cole has been asked to name who was the greatest teammate of his career, and he gave an answer that many Arsenal fans will agree with.

Cole picked Thierry Henry as the greatest player he’s ever played alongside, and, to be fair, that’s hard to argue.

Henry is one of the greatest players of all-time, so much so that some have claimed that Henry was better than Kylian Mbappe – high praise indeed.

Cole clearly loved playing alongside Henry, and when you look at the pair’s record together, it’s easy to understand why.

Arsenal very rarely lost when Cole and Henry were in the same team, and they won numerous major honours in that period too.

Cole and Henry were an incredibly successful pairing at Arsenal, and while the left-back would go on to taste more major success at Chelsea alongside other talented players, he still rates Henry as the best footballer he ever shared the pitch with.

Cole doesn’t fancy Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League this season, but perhaps if the Gunners had a striker like Henry leading the line, he’d be more optimistic about Mikel Arteta’s side’s chances.
