Ashley Cole has made a prediction about Arsenal for this season which won’t go down well amongst Gunners supporters.
The North London outfit are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2004, having finished second in each of the last three campaigns.
Andrea Berta has spent in excess of £250 million this summer to provide Mikel Arteta with the best possible squad to launch another assault on the title this term.
The likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi have all been brought in to strengthen the Gunners’ starting eleven, while several squad players have also been added to Arteta’s ranks.
Despite this spending, Cole is not optimistic about Arsenal’s chances of finally lifting the elusive piece of silverware.

Ashley Cole thinks Arsenal will finish fourth in the Premier League this season
Arsenal thrashed Leeds United 5-0 in their last fixture, having beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the campaign.
These results aren’t enough to convince former Gunners left-back Cole that Arteta’s side can go one step further and win the Premier League this term.
Speaking on the CGTN Sports Scene YouTube channel, the Chelsea hero predicted Arsenal to finish the league season in fourth.
“I’m going to go Manchester City number one, Liverpool in number two, Chelsea number three, Arsenal number four, Manchester United number five, and I’m going to go Newcastle number six,” Cole said.
Arsenal visit Liverpool this weekend at Anfield, in a huge game that will provide a good indication of just how accurate Cole’s prediction may be.

Arsenal haven’t finished fourth since 2013/14
If the Gunners do finish fourth, it’ll be the first time they’ve ended a league campaign in this position since the 2013/14 season.
After being five points clear at the summit of the table heading to Anfield in February of that season, Arsene Wenger’s side crumbled and ultimately finished fourth, behind City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Cole envisages the same outcome this term, despite Arsenal’s strong start to the season.

Since finishing fourth eleven years ago, Arsenal’s most common league finish is second, having ended in this position on four separate occasions.
The period between 2016 and 2021 was certainly the Gunners’ worst in recent times, with Arteta’s impact since then clearly reflected in the upward trajectory in league positions.
Now it’s about the Spaniard making the next step and taking Arsenal to the promised land.
