Bacary Sagna has selected a combined XI from his time at Manchester City and the current Arsenal squad.
While most of his picks are hard to argue with, there is one choice in particular which stands out.
The former right-back, speaking to Oddschecker on TikTok, was tasked with picking the best of both worlds across two of his former clubs.
There are a few Arsenal players that make his team — namely Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and he even concedes his own position to Jurrien Timber.
Meanwhile, Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany pipped Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes, both difficult to begrudge.
TRUE or FALSE: David Raya is the best goalkeeper in the world…
Bacary Sagna picks Joe Hart over David Raya
It’s between the sticks where eyebrows will be raised.
Sagna opted for Joe Hart over David Raya, and while it is easy to see why fans might bristle, there is at least an argument to be made.
Hart retired in 2024 and has since moved into punditry, but despite his dwindling reputation late in his playing career, his numbers are not to be scoffed at.
Over 100 Premier League clean sheets, four Golden Glove awards (the joint record with Petr Cech), and 75 caps for England make him one of the best British goalkeepers of his generation.
In terms of pure quality and trajectory, Raya will be remembered as the better keeper when all is said and done — Jamie Carragher has hailed him the best in the Premier League.
But Hart has the edge over Raya on the international stage, with the former being England’s undisputed number one for almost a decade.
The same can’t be said for the Spaniard, who is bizarrely kept out of the national side by Athletic Bilbao stopper Unai Simon.
It would be a strange oversight if recent performances, along with three consecutive Premier League Golden Gloves, do not reward him with a starting berth for Spain at the World Cup.
Bacary Sagna’s Arsenal vs Man City combined XI
Sagna’s full combined team was as follows:
Hart; Timber, Saliba, Kompany, Clichy; Fernandinho, Yaya Toure; Saka, David Silva, Sterling; Aguero.
A solid team to say the least, and one that would certainly dominate the Premier League if everyone was in their prime.
Of course, there are some controversial calls in there, but to be fair, Sagna knows many of these players on a level that fans never will.
David Raya is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world right now, but let’s not forget, for a time, Joe Hart was also up there with the best of the best too.
