Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard started in Belgium’s Nations League defeat against Israel on Sunday.

Leandro Trossard is one of several players currently absent from the Emirates Stadium due to international commitments.

The Belgian media were not impressed with Trossard after the performance he produced against Italy earlier on in this international break. However, the 29-year-old was still named in Domenico Tedesco’s starting XI for this encounter in Israel.

However, disaster struck in Budapest as Trossard picked up an injury and was taken off the pitch before half-time.

What the Belgian press are saying about Leandro Trossard

Mikel Arteta will be devastated by the news of Trossard’s injury. Whilst the former Brighton man’s form has been inconsistent this season, he has still had an important role to play for the Gunners.

The Spanish coach has leaned upon Trossard’s versatility, using him to provide cover for Martin Odegaard, whilst the Arsenal captain spent his own period on the sidelines with injury.

It is not yet clear how long Trossard will be out of action for after picking up this knock against Israel. However, the Belgian media were generally pleased with that they saw from the Arsenal star before he was withdrawn early.

Walfoot gave him a 6/10 rating, and said: “His exit through injury meant the end of any collective creativity, with only the individual flashes of Bakayoko and Lukebakio still managing to bring danger. He was still at the level of his match against Italy.”

Voetbal Primeur also graded Trossard’s truncated performance as a 6/10, and stated: “The Limburger showed himself active from the kick-off, although his position was noticeable. He often came to pick up the ball very low on the left flank.

“A free kick from his foot was one of the few shots between the posts. Trossard did not even manage to complete the first 45 minutes, which gave the Devil’s creativity another blow.”

How Arsenal fans responded to Trossard injury news

Arsenal have already suffered an injury crisis this season, and this latest blow will create more challenges for Arteta.

Fans of the North London club on X were quick to share their reaction to the news of Trossard’s injury.

One said: “Doesn’t look serious and I really hope it is not serious.”

Another stated: “This season is already looking so bleak.”

One Arsenal fan added: “Trossard is injured.. What did we do to deserve these many injuries.”
