The Belgian media have praised Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard’s performance in their goalless draw with Iran.
Iran frustrated Belgium by holding them to a 0-0 draw at the Los Angeles Stadium after they went down to 10 men in the 67th minute.
👀 TRUE or FALSE: Arsenal MUST SELL Leandro Trossard this summer…
Belgium now find themselves in a tricky position as they sit third in Group G, with both Egypt and Iran ahead of them.
But despite being frustrated in attack, the Belgian local media have a lot of good things to say about the Arsenal winger’s performance.
Belgian media say Leandro Trossard was ‘really good’ vs Iran
The Belgian media believe that Leandro Trossard was comfortably one of Belgium’s best players in their draw with Iran.
The Red Devils had 22 attempts at goal; however, Alireza Beiranvand managed to keep them at bay for 90 minutes.
The Arsenal attacker had a great game, despite his teammates being wasteful, managing 76 touches, completing 50 passes, six key passes, and three successful dribbles.
Following the 0-0 draw in Los Angeles, the Belgian media rated his performance highly, especially compared to his teammates.
- Walfoot gave him 7/10: “It’s also important to acknowledge when he’s really good: Trossard had an excellent game, frequently beating his man and delivering numerous crosses and good cutbacks. This time, it was his teammates who failed to capitalise.”
- Nieuwsblad rated him 6/10: “It certainly wasn’t ‘magnifique’, as Garcia spoke after Egypt, but he was among the better ones in combinations. It was what it was, and honestly, that was already a lot for this team.”
Arsenal fans also thought Trossard was great against Iran, and that his fellow international teammates let him down big time.
There were many shouts about him being underrated, as, despite Belgium’s poor performance, the 32-year-old still tried to carry the team on his back.
Leandro Trossard has created five chances for Kevin De Bruyne
Trossard has created five chances for Kevin De Bruyne against Iran, but the former Man City midfielder failed to capitalise.
No player has created more chances for a teammate in a World Cup match since Bastian Schweinsteiger for Michael Ballack back in 2006.
Arsenal have considered selling Trossard this summer, but the winger has proved why they cannot afford to lose such a clutch performer.
