Arsenal’s latest Hale End star stole the show in the 5-0 victory over Leeds United in the Premier League.

Arsenal fans loved Max Dowman’s performance after coming on for Noni Madueke for his league debut just past the hour mark.

The 15-year-old showed no fear and immediately looked a threat by taking on his full-back. Dowman eventually won a penalty in stoppage time to allow Viktor Gyokeres to score his second of the game.

The Gunners know they have a special talent on their hands but former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has been speculating what would have happened had Dowman been on the other side of North London.

Ben Foster thinks Max Dowman would be linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Fozcast’, Foster has expressed his belief that Dowman is at the right club in order to develop his talent.

Foster has stated that if Dowman was at Tottenham Hotspur, he would be getting linked with ‘big moves’ but that won’t occur with him already being at Arsenal.

Foster stated: “He’s at the right club for a lot of reasons, but he’s at the right club, so I think he’s got the people around him who are going to keep him grounded and keep him working hard, but the size of club as well, there’s not going to be any chance of anybody coming in and getting him.

“Like if he’s at, no disrespect, Tottenham, or if he’s a good team, a top six, a top eight team, straight away he’s being linked with Man City, he’s being linked with Liverpool, he’s being linked with Man United.

“But because he’s at Arsenal, I’m sorry, that’s put to bed already, so he just focuses on playing football. He’s not linked with all these big moves and all these other fans going, come join here.

“He’s already at the big club and I think that is the beauty for him.”

Theo Walcott thinks Dowman reminds him of Lionel Messi and it is now down to Arsenal to nurture his talent in the right way.

The club have shown with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri that they will look after their academy graduates and ensure they get the right guidance on and off the pitch.

How many games will Max Dowman realistically play for Arsenal this season?

Despite his impressive debut, it is still expected that Dowman will play the majority of his games for the U18 and U21 sides this season.

Jamie Carragher thinks Dowman has a ‘problem’ at Arsenal in that there is a huge amount of competition for the spot on the right wing at the club.

However, there have already been injuries to key players and Dowman has shown that he is capable of stepping in when required.

It is a long season and Mikel Arteta will be targeting success in all four trophies. Opportunities will arise in both domestic cup competitions and in Europe.

Whilst Dowman may not yet be a regular in the Premier League, it would be no surprise come the end of the season if he has racked up at least 15-20 appearances in all competitions.
