Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been given his take on Arsenal ahead of their clash on New Year’s Day.
The Gunners face a tough test up next. Mikel Arteta’s side are set to travel to the Gtech Community Stadium, aiming to pick up their fourth successive victory.
Brentford will no doubt be a stern test, with the capital side boasting the joint-best home record in the Premier League.
Arsenal are set to be without Bukayo Saka, who picked up an injury vs Crystal Palace.
Now, in the build-up to the match, Frank has praised one element of the Gunners’ game, which he claims is the ‘best in the world’.
‘Arsenal are the best in the world at set-pieces’ – Thomas Frank

Arsenal’s ability at set-pieces has been well-documented throughout the current season.
Over the last season-and-a-half, the Gunners have netted 31 goals from dead-ball situations, with nine coming in the current campaign.
With Brentford up next, Frank is well aware of the threat Arsenal poses as the current set-piece coach Nicolas Jover previously worked at the Bees between 2016-19.
Now, ahead of the clash on New Year’s Day, the Brentford manager has insisted that Arsenal are the ‘best in the world’ at set-pieces.
“Arsenal is the best set-piece team not only in the Premier League but in the world right now,” said Frank.
“They are so aggressive and they are well-coached – but we are also good at set-pieces and we will be ready.
“We are good at defending corners. As far as I know, we have only conceded from one corner so far – which was a short corner against Bournemouth – in the Premier League this season.
“We defend very well so we trust our own processes but, of course, with huge respect to Arsenal and what they can come with.
“We know we need to play our ‘A’ game; not just in set-pieces but with every aspect of the game.”

Arsenal need to start 2025 on a high

Arsenal’s 2024/25 campaign has not gone as expected. The club are all but out of the title race barring a massive Liverpool collapse.
While Arsenal are still in all three cup competitions, the Premier League was no doubt their aim this season, which realistically can no longer be achieved.
Brentford will be a tough test and a victory there will no doubt be impressive.
Momentum could be key if Arsenal are to lift a trophy this term. Therefore, starting 2025 off strongly would help state their ambitions for the new year.
