Arsenal are preparing to face champions Liverpool in a crucial Premier League clash.
Arsenal must win one of their remaining three Premier League fixtures in order to guarantee qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed Arsenal’s intentions to give Liverpool a guard of honour despite Troy Deeney’s passionate plea for the Gunners to not follow the tradition.

Mikel Arteta delivers clear Arsenal transfer stance
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Liverpool, Arteta was clear on his stance in bringing in more firepower to the club in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners boss was questioned on his desire to bring in a centre forward but Arteta made it clear that he wanted what was best for the team.
Arteta stated: “Do I have to make it more clear. In January it was clear or not? Not what I told you because you were in the room I think many times and it was a very clear statement. The statement continues the same.
“I want the best team, the best player. If we have three goal scorers over 25, bring them in and we’re going to be a much better team.”
Mikel Arteta admits difficulty in finding the right striker
Arsenal are closing in on Viktor Gyokeres and with over 50 goals this season, fans will be hoping he is the answer to the club’s lack of cutting edge in the final third.
However, the market is challenging, especially in the centre forward position and the Arsenal manager is under no illusions as to how difficult it is to acquire the right player.
Arteta stated: “There’s not that many in the Premier League. I will try to improve but certainly improve the ones that we have right now and love the ones that we have right now. Especially after losing it’s too easy to just go and look elsewhere and don’t use the moment to judge players especially.
“Because, I was asked a lot of questions about certain players in this room, always in certain moments. But when other players have outperformed other players that we were discussing, I have zero questions in the last 11 months. It’s relative to the context, to the moment and the narrative that you want to generate. I understand that.”
