There is a growing belief around the Premier League that Viktor Gyokeres will sign for Arsenal this summer, Arsenal Insider understands.

Gyokeres is enjoying another productive campaign for Sporting, netting 52 goals and providing eleven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

This outstanding form has prompted interest from a host of top clubs throughout Europe, including the likes of the Gunners and Manchester United.

Arsenal Insider revealed last month that Gyokeres is Arsenal’s most likely striker signing this summer, and the deal has progressed further in recent weeks.

Premier League clubs believe Viktor Gyokeres is heading to Arsenal

Benjamin Sesko has been mooted as one of Arsenal’s top targets, while Alexander Isak is understood to be Mikel Arteta’s dream signing.

However, the former is still raw and inexperienced, and the latter is likely to be too costly for the Gunners to even consider making a move.

Thus, Gyokeres has emerged as the most likely acquisition, with the Swedish striker said to be available for a purported £60 million.

Our transfer insider Graeme Bailey told Arsenal Insider that Andrea Berta feels the former Coventry City man is the best ‘win now’ signing for Arteta’s squad.

“I am hearing from sources around the league that Gyokeres is heading to Arsenal,” he said.

“Arsenal are not confirming this, but other clubs are saying this – there is a belief that he is the one.

“It would not be a huge surprise, as we have said, we know that Gyokeres and Sesko are the two they have spent most of their time on.

“I think if it is Gyokeres, the fact he is ready to go, the ‘plug and play’ option – that is the reason they go for him. Arsenal are in ‘win now’ mode, and Gyokeres looks a great fit for me.”

Arsenal will be keen to secure their new striker as early as possible, so that Arteta has him in the squad and ready to integrate over pre-season.

Viktor Gyokeres’ Statistics 2024/25

Sporting manager Rui Borges described Gyokeres as ‘the best striker in Europe’ after the Sweden international scored four goals in one match for the Portuguese giants in April.

While this may seem like an outlandish statement, the data certainly suggests he should be in the conversation.

Of course, there are question marks about how his form will translate to a more challenging league, but the underlying statistics are extremely impressive.

There have been concerns that penalties have inflated Gyokeres’ numbers, but he’s still scored 26 goals not from the spot, and he accumulates 0.67 non-penalty expected goals per 90 minutes.

Arsenal fans should certainly be excited by such an acquisition.
