Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes is genuinely in the conversation for Premier League player of the year and he’s made a nod towards Thierry Henry when discussing his form.
Fernandes has emerged as the main man for United once again under Michael Carrick, underlining his status as one of the best midfielders in the game.
The Portuguese has done it for years now but in terms of Premier League greats, it’s debatable just where he stands.
Nevertheless, when he had it put to him, Fernandes was quick to mention Thierry Henry before going any further.

Fernandes is clearly lauded among the United fans and to be fair to him, there’s an argument that he’s actually underrated by other fans.
Still, he is finally getting his flowers and when speaking to United’s media channels about comparisons to past greats, he mentioned Henry as one of the best.
“Obviously the other two names you said like has been people that being considered the greatest of of the Premier League as Thierry Henry is probably the name that comes up there with with Cristiano most of the times and and Kevin everyone knows how much he did to the Premier League, how good he was,” Fernandes commented.
“So it’s it’s very grateful to be there with with these kind of players.”

Most fans of English football will acknowledge that Thierry Henry is one of, if not the very best player to ever grace these shores.
However, when it comes to the stats, Fernandes has not done himself any harm.
While Henry comes out on top with goals at a whopping 175, Fernandes is doing well himself.
The Man United man has 70 goals and 67 assists in his 223 Premier League appearances, compared to Henry’s 175 goals and 74 assists in 258 games.
Clearly, Fernandes will not catch Henry in the goals column but in terms of assists, he should overtake Henry with ease.
Obviously, Henry also won titles with Arsenal and that will always put him ahead of Fernandes as well.
Nevertheless, it’s good to see a great player acknowledge the past greats and when all is said and done, both Henry and Fernandes will go down in Premier League history.
