Bruno Fernandes says he was actually so sad when ‘world-class’ player joined Arsenal instead of Man United

Arsenal have been far superior to Manchester United in recent years.

The Red Devils are still a massive club and can attract top-class players, but if the choice is between Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium, most players are picking the latter.

Over the last few years, Arsenal’s recruitment has been incredible. They have signed some fantastic players who have made a real difference for them.

Declan Rice is one of the biggest examples of that, and Bruno Fernandes is jealous that he plays for the Gunners.

Bruno Fernandes says he was so sad when Declan Rice joined Arsenal

Rice is one of the best players in the world.

The England international was an incredible midfielder during his time at West Ham, but he has gone to a whole new level in the famous red and white.

That isn’t really a surprise because everyone who had seen Rice play before knew he had the potential to become an absolute star.

Fernandes, who is a brilliant midfielder himself, knew all about Rice and wanted him at Manchester United when he left West Ham.

However, Arsenal snapped him up instead, and it pained the Red Devils skipper.

He said on Joel Beya’s podcast: “To be honest, I admire him a lot him first of all as a person, because I’ve known him from the Algarve when we were training together and everything.

“Obviously, I knew him already from West Ham, and we all knew the qualities he had. Yeah. And I’ve always said, I always thought that Rice was a player to play for Man United.

“And I was really sad when he chose to go to Arsenal.

“I didn’t know if there was the opportunity or the chance for him to come to Manchester United, but I always thought that he would be a perfect fit for our club.”

Does Declan Rice deserve to be Arsenal’s highest earner…if not, then who?

Declan Rice chose the right club

Rice could’ve gone to any club he wanted in 2023.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich were both very keen, and if the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United stood a chance, we’re sure they would’ve moved for him as well.

However, the ‘world-class’ Rice was fully convinced by Mikel Arteta to join Arsenal, and we think he made the right decision.

The midfielder has been incredible over the years, and his dream of winning major silverware could finally be fulfilled in the coming weeks.
