Bukayo Saka remains firmly expected to sign a new contract with Arsenal, despite talk around the deal going quiet all of a sudden.
Back in November, Andrea Berta felt that an agreement with Saka was close, with the Italian director making that clear to the club’s hierarchy.
Fill in the blank: Andrea Berta must renew ____________’s contract next!
Saka’s new contract is set to be worth £300,000-per-week, making him Arsenal’s highest-paid player in the club’s history.
However, the situation seems to have gone quiet, which will leave Arsenal fans feeling rather anxious that there could be an issue.
Confidence remains that Arsenal will renew Bukayo Saka’s contract
Arsenal journalists James Benge and Charles Watts remain adamant that Bukayo Saka will eventually agree to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
Berta has done a great job with Arsenal contracts so far, tying down Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri to new deals.
The Gunners are now hoping that Saka will be next, with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2027.
Speaking about whether there are concerns over Saka’s new deal, Watts told Inside Arsenal: “Do you have any concerns that Saka hasn’t signed a new deal yet?
“I think the last time the question was raised, you were very confident he was signing a new contract. Do you have the same level of confidence today? Yes, I do.”
Where does Bukayo Saka rank among these Arsenal legends?
Meanwhile, Benge shares the same confidence, claiming: “Is this not the exact same question that was the last contract was asked of Bukayo Saka in the mix zone at the start of the season, where he didn’t then sign that contract until very late on? Yes, I share his confidence.
“I’d be stunned if it didn’t go through. I’d be very surprised. But yes, I’m just as confident,” Watts added.
Berta will soon have his work cut out, with Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus’ contracts also set to expire in 2027.
Andrea Berta should be looking to sell Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus
Berta should be looking to sell Martinelli, Trossard and Jesus in the near future and searching for upgrades on all three.
Martinelli has struggled for consistency at Arsenal, and a new left winger should be the main focus for the Gunners in 2026.
Trossard is now 31, and the Gunners should look to get a fee for him next summer when his stock will be very high.
Finally, Jesus has had too many injury issues at Arsenal, and next summer should be when the Gunners finally look to move him on.
