Thierry Henry is arguably the greatest player to ever play for Arsenal.

The legendary Frenchman is the Gunners’ record goalscorer. He made many young people fall in love with the club and they’ve all been fans since.

Henry set a number of records during his time as an Arsenal player. There are some that have stood for over two decades.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka could smash one of those records this season.

Bukayo Saka is on track to break Thierry Henry’s Premier League assists record

Saka has once again been one of Arsenal’s best players this season.

The Englishman has carried the Gunners on his back since he was a teenager, and he is one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal are fighting for the big trophies today.

Saka has played in every single game so far this season, and he has had an impact in almost all of them. The 23-year-old has been brilliant.

In six Premier League games this season, Saka has scored a goal and provided five assists. That is an amazing return.

Saka missed the opportunity to set a Premier League record by becoming the first player to assist in each of the first six games of the season.

However, he is still in with a chance of smashing another hugely impressive record.

The record for the most assists provided in the Premier League in a single campaign is jointly held by Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. The record stands at 20.

Saka, who has five assists in six games, is on track to destroy that record. We really hope he can achieve that this season.

Saka should aim to break another record

Breaking Henry and De Bruyne’s record would be magnificent on its own, but there is an even bigger feat Saka could achieve this season.

Since the turn of the century, no player has managed more assists in a single campaign in all competitions than Juan Mata.

The former Chelsea star registered 35 assists in the 2012/13 season in all competitions – no player in Europe has been able to surpass that (Transfermarkt).

If Saka keeps assisting at the same rate, he could become the first man in Europe to get over 35 assists in all competitions in a single season since the turn of the century.

It’s a very tough ask, but that should be Saka’s aim going forward.
