Bukayo Saka is living his dream at Arsenal.

The Englishman has become one of the best players in the world over the years under Mikel Arteta. He has shown incredible improvement season after season and looks better than ever now.

Saka has had a fine start to the 2024/25 season. He has directly contributed to 10 goals in as many games and is on track to break his personal best record.

That must be a great feeling, but something else happened to him at Arsenal recently that made him really happy.

What left Bukayo Saka ‘speechless’ at Arsenal recently

Saka is Arsenal through and through.

The Englishman joined the club when he was just eight years old. He came through the ranks at the Arsenal Academy, impressed everyone along the way and finally made his senior debut in 2019.

Saka has carried Arsenal on his back over the last four years. He has arguably been the most important player in Arteta’s rebuild and gave fans hope even at the darkest of times.

Now, Arsenal are challenging for the big trophies and nobody deserves it more than their number seven.

The 23-year-old has taken on more responsibilities this season, and in Martin Odegaard’s absence, and he has been named the captain on a few occasions as well.

Saka led his teammates out in the Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain recently, and it was one of the proudest moments of his career.

The Arsenal star was asked about it and he claimed that the moment has made him ‘speechless’.

Reflecting on the moment when he was handed the captain’s armband, Saka told CBS Sports: “That’s one of the things where I become speechless when people ask me.

“Everyone knows my journey, where I came from. To take the captain’s armband, walk the lads out at the Emirates Stadium…”

After taking a lengthy pause, Saka said: “I can’t put it into words.”

What Saka did in North London Derby shows he’s a real leader

In June, Arteta confirmed that Saka had been promoted to Arsenal’s leadership group. That is a brilliant achievement for someone who was still 22 at the time.

The Gunners number seven really has embraced the added responsibility. He has led from the front with his performances and has also played a part in motivating his teammates.

In the North London Derby back in September, Jorginho wore the captain’s armband due to Martin Odegaard’s absence.

However, it was Saka who gave the pre-match team talk in the huddle, proving that he is a real leader.

Saka ended up providing the assist to Gabriel Magalhaes’ winner against Spurs. He was brilliant that day and has been in almost every fixture since.
